After limiting Mumbai to 151/6, the Challengers, on stellar shots from flyhalf Anuj Rawat (66) and former skipper Virat Kohli (48 of 36) chased it with nine balls to spare.

On Saturday, the Challengers impressed with both bat and ball as they secured their third win of the season, while the Mumbai Indians’ problems grew as they slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat of the season.
Despite an onslaught from Suryakumar Yadav in the final four overs, the RCB bowlers had a strong outing as the wickets plummeted after the opener between Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. The stylish Suryakumar picked up his second straight fiftieth birthday as Mumbai broke the 150-point mark.

After limiting the former champions to 151/6, the RCB openers set up a 50-point stand. The Challengers took the win as former skipper Kohli impressed with the bat, while young Rawat (66 of 47) picked up his first IPL half-century. Rawat and Kohli struck up an 80-run, 52-delivery partnership to guide RCB home. Entering the team for his first game this season, Glenn Maxwell finished it with consecutive limits.
Here are the post-match comments from the winning captain, losing captain, man of the match as well as the full list of winners for the RCB vs MI IPL 2022 match:
Faf du Plessis (Captain Winner):
Feels really good. Mumbai are a solid team and we had great bowling for at least 18 overs. There was something in it for the bowlers in the early innings. We didn’t want to give them a good start. Rohit played some good shots but his wicket was valuable. Akash Deep was really good tonight. Brilliant bowling performance. (Chase) Lots of conversations between the two of us (Anuj). I talked about him before the tournament. He has potential. The way he plays the game is magnificent. Very happy with him.
Rohit Sharma (losing captain):
(Two foreign players) I just went with the combination that would be ideal. We chose the best of everything we had. I wanted to beat as long as possible but I came out at the wrong time. We had gone on a 50-race partnership, but got out at the wrong time. It hurts us a bit. Definitely not a 150 point pitch, Surya showed us you can do it if you beat sensibly. Kudos to Surya, but we knew that wouldn’t be enough. Lots of points to improve.
We want our hitters to hit as deep as possible. The collective performance seems to be lacking.
Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB):
You’re really happy with my pace. Normally my googly spins more, that’s why I like to play more googly. (On the stick above) We have a lot of talent. As soon as I have the opportunity, I am ready to play.
Anuj Rawat (player of the match):
It feels good to score points and win games. I am very happy to do this. To be honest, I was just going through the process. I started well but I didn’t finish (in the other games). I am happy to be able to do it today. I hope many more to come. Lots of support from coach and management. I am happy and enjoying the company of Virat bhaiya and Faf.
