Odisha tops AD case detection, 2nd for unscrupulous officials who lose their jobs: NCRB

Odisha Vigilance tops the list in detecting and recording cases of disproportionate assets, the recently released National Criminal Records Bureau (NCRB) report for 2021 revealed.

Out of a total of 398 vigilance cases recorded across the country, Odisha Vigilance recorded 92 cases which is 23% of the total number of recorded cases in the country. Similarly, the punishment rate is 42.5%.

In 2021, up to 12 civil servants lost their jobs for accumulating assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

“In 2021, Odisha Vigilance performed well nationally. Odisha Vigilance topped the list in detecting and recording disproportionate assets. Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were placed second and third respectively,” said SP, Cuttack Vigilance Cell M Radhakrishnan.

“Similarly, in detecting and recording cases of criminal misconduct and embezzlement, Odisha ranks second, next to Tamil Nadu. When it comes to civil servants who lose their jobs due to their accumulation of assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, Odisha has also been ranked second,” he added.
